Now certainly the wretched ones were overwhelmed in the chaos of error, "because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened; "

But the image of the heavenly is the resurrection from the dead, and in corruption, in order that "as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also should walk in newness of life."

For how should one care for a thing which is neither forbidden nor necessary to him? And for this reason it is said, "I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet."

For when the law was given, the devil had it in his power to work lust in me; "for without the law, sin was dead; "
